I will bring them back from the land of Egypt, and gather them from Assyria, and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon, until no place is found for them. (Zechariah 10:10)
He who delivers from the house of bondage will again gather His scattered ones. For I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. (Exodus 20:2) For everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin, but if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:34-36) Therefore He breaks the scepter of Egypt, that rule of sin which once held dominion over our members, for sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. (Romans 6:14)
And He brings down the pride of Assyria, for the lofty looks of man will be humbled, and the haughtiness of men will be brought low, and Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day. (Isaiah 2:11) Shall the axe boast itself over the one who chops with it? says the Lord, for I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria. (Isaiah 10:12-15) Thus He delivers not only from bondage but from pride— from the tyranny of sin and from the exaltation of self. Learn from Me, says the Christ, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)
Then will He lead them into Gilead— for is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? (Jeremiah 8:22) There the wounds are bound, the broken made whole, He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds, (Psalm 147:3) for the Sun of righteousness will rise with healing in His wings. (Malachi 4:2) And the fragrance of Lebanon will be upon them, for the righteous will flourish like the palm tree, he will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. (Psalm 92:12) Their beauty will be like the olive tree, and their fragrance like Lebanon, (Hosea 14:6) and they shall be planted in the house of Yahweh, to declare that Yahweh is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. (Psalm 92:15)
He brings them out from Egypt and Assyria— from sin and from pride— into Gilead and Lebanon— into healing and glory. He will pass through the sea of distress, (Zechariah 10:11) for He makes a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters. (Isaiah 43:16) The depths of the Nile will dry up, (Zechariah 10:11) and all the powers of the old life will be silenced, that the redeemed of Yahweh will return and come with shouting to Zion, everlasting joy upon their heads. (Isaiah 35:10)
